This exploratory case study aimed to investigate the emotional distress of a teenager from a broken family. It explored how familial disruption and environmental factors contributed to the subject’s mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, and suicidal tendencies. The subject's maladaptive coping mechanisms, such as substance abuse, were influenced by negative peer pressure and family dynamics. However, the subject developed healthier coping strategies through artistic expression and physical activities. The study emphasized the importance of early intervention, emotional support, and community-based programs for adolescents from dysfunctional backgrounds. Providing stable relationships, alternative coping strategies, and mental health education significantly mitigated long-term emotional distress effects. The findings highlighted the need for comprehensive support systems and interventions emphasizing the role of stable environments and positive interventions in fostering resilience. By addressing these factors, it is recommended to create more supportive environments for vulnerable adolescents
